David Weston’s paintings have enjoyed successful showings in both private and public galleries and are represented in such collections as The Royal Scottish Museum in Edinburgh, Glasgow City Art Galleries, The National Motor Museum, British Rail and the National Railway Museum, together with several other national and provincial public collections. The artist’s reputation has been further enhanced by the publication of six books of his paintings and drawings and a documentary by Central TV. His paintings range from the delicacy of a misty watercolour landscape to the dynamic expression of a mighty steam locomotive on a large canvas in oils.

In this book David has taken a selection of some 143 drawings from his more recent sketchbooks to illustrate his fascination with buildings and architecture. Many of these have accompanying essays which tell the often hidden stories behind the drawings and add considerably to the interest and entertaining content.
As a boy, David Weston was captivated by the power of steam locomotives. Later on in life, that boyhood interest came together with his passion to paint.

This story and that of his twenty-year struggle to become a full-time professional, is told here with great humour.‘For the Love of Art’ is published as a companion volume to David’s previous book, ‘My Bit of England’. It is a book to amuse, to dip into and enjoy, with its profusion of delightful drawings which are faithfully reproduced and presented to the highest standards.
